Leadership Class: Leadership Class is Heritage’s version of ASB and is open to all 7th and 8th grade students interested in creating fun and interesting activities for their classmates. An informational meeting will be held Wednesday, September 8, at 3:15p.m. in Mr. Ruff’s classroom (Room 205). Food and Fundraising Activities: Friday Spirit Days: Students may wear Padres gear until the baseball season is over or their Heritage Spirit tee shirts on Fridays. Uniform bottoms must be worn. Chips for Charter: Escondido Charter High School’s annual PVO fundraiser, benefiting students directly and the school as a whole, will be held Saturday, September 25, at the California Center for the Arts Escondido from 6p.m. to 11p.m.. Tickets can be purchased online at www.chipsforcharter.com or www.echs.com and in the ECHS front office during school hours. Don't miss out on this exciting event! Mission Fed’s Mission 2 $ave: Students can make deposits to their Mission Federal savings accounts between 7:30a.m.-7:55a.m. every Friday morning in the MPR. Over 35 students signed up the first week! Martial Arts Class: A three day a week program - Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, $60 per month. Heritage students will meet in the MPR from 3p.m. to 3:45p.m. weekdays and 10:30a.m. to 11a.m. Saturdays; high school and adult students will meet in the MPR 4p.m. to 5p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 11a.m. to 12p.m. on Saturdays. Heritage K8 2010-2011 Yearbook: Order The Roar online before October 29 for only $24 at www.heritageyearbook.com. For information on advertising or photo submissions, email heritageyearbook@echs.org. After School Music Classes for 4th-8th Graders: FREE CLASSES! Glee Club meets on Thursdays from 2:45p.m.-3:45p.m. and Instrumental Class begins Monday, September 13, from 2:45p.m.-3:45p.m. in Room 111. Used Uniform Shop: This month, the Used Uniform Shop will be open Wednesday, September 8, at 2:30p.m. Starting in October, the shop will be open the first Wednesday of the month. We are in need of your student’s outgrown uniforms, which can be dropped off in the front office. If you’re able to volunteer, please contact Jo Ashley at 760-741-2560. Jo will be out of town in November and December and will need someone to oversee sales on the first Wednesdays of those months. Jump Rope Club: Classes begin Tuesday, September 14, 2:45p.m. to 3:45p.m. in the MPR for grades 1-8. Fourteen classes for $140. Jump ropes provided for class and available for purchase to take home. Wear work out clothing and good jumping shoes. Bring a smile and we’ll teach you to jump rope! Applications are available in the front office or on the Heritage website. After School Piano Club: Starting Monday, September 20, the Piano Club meets once a week with your choice of any day Monday through Friday from 2:45p.m. to 3:30p.m. with Mrs. Dawson. Bring out your talent and potential through learning creative keyboard lessons in a group setting. Students will be offered exciting performance opportunities. Emphasis is on learning notes, timing, rhythm, dynamics, and performance. Group keyboard class is $56/month (45 minutes) and private lessons are $64/month (30 minutes). A percentage of fees charged is donated to the American Heritage Education Foundation in support of the Heritage Music Department. Prescription Drug Task Force: Deputy District Attorney, Matt Williams, will present important and potentially life-saving information to parents only, especially parents of preteens and teens, on Tuesday, September 21, in the American Spirit Theater, at 6:30p.m. Learn about “pharm parties,” Oxycontin, and the prevalence of prescription drug abuse among the “good kids from good neighborhoods” in San Diego County. Eat Out and Raise Money for HK8 Technology Fund: Rubio’s and Panda Express will each donate 20% of your purchases on Thursday, September 30, from 11a.m.-8p.m. You must present a flyer, available in the front office. Electronics/Technology Recycling: Raise funds for our classroom document cameras/LCD projectors by recycling the following items: scientific and graphing calculators, PDAs/Palm Pilots (include accessories), IPods (include accessories), cell phones, video games (include cases), video game consoles (include accessories), Brand name inkjet and laser cartridges, digital cameras, laptops (include power cords), and DVDs (original packaging). Just bring them to the front office. Gently Used or New Donations Needed: Two small microwave ovens (new), two compact refrigerators. We could also use an EZ Up. Please contact the front office for more details. Homework Stars: Congratulations to Homework Stars: Hayden Borden and Justice Moore in Mrs. Curley’s 1st grade class; Mrs. Kajita’s 2nd grade student, Franchesca Doyle; and 5th grade student, Tiyana Thorogood, in Mr. Robertson’s class. They each get to pick a book of their choice from the "Homework Star" bookcase. Students who complete all homework assignments for the entire week are entered into a weekly drawing. Escondido’s Grape Day: All day festivities begin with a parade
(look for 8th grader Franklin Boren and his mom in a Model T!) at 9:30a.m.
