Heritage K-8 Charter School

Heritage Notes
Friday, January 22, 2010

*MINIMUM DAY—THURSDAY, JANUARY 28—12:00PM DISMISSAL*

ECHS Cheer Clinic for HK8 Students: Learn the moves from the ECHS Cheerleaders March 2, 3, 4. The clinic will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room from 3:15p.m.-4:45p.m., and the cost is $25. Applications are available in the front office.

Uniform Policy Reminder: The Heritage Uniform Policy requires students wearing sweatshirts, windbreakers, or sweaters to have the school logo on them. This year we are in a transition year and will allow students to wear solid colored (navy, black, or white only! Gray is not permitted!) sweaters and sweatshirts. As your student outgrows or needs a new sweatshirt or sweater, please plan on buying them clothing with the Heritage logo.

Parent Note: If you have a student with a sibling who wants to attend Heritage K-8 next year, please ensure your student is on the appropriate lottery list and is noted as the sibling of a currently enrolled student. To do this, please submit an application to the ECHS main office by March 3, 2010.

Milk at Lunch: The 8th Grade will be selling cartons of fresh milk for just 50 cents at lunch. Milk will be available every day at lunch through the end of March to raise funds for their science camp.

Co-ed Basketball Clinics: Open to all Heritage K-8 students. Clinics will be held in the ECHS gym on Wednesdays from 3 to 4p.m. starting Wednesday, February 3. Session fee is $75, and applications are available in the Heritage front office or at www.play-bc.com.

Heritage K-8 Yearbooks: You still have time to purchase the 2009/2010 edition of “The Roar” for $23. Order forms are available in the front office or online at www.heritageyearbook.com. Quantities are limited and there is a possibility that they may sell out. PDA’s (3 lines typed) are available for $5.

Heritage Spirit T-Shirts: On sale in the front office. Short sleeves are $15 and long sleeves $20. Heritage Spirit Shirts may be worn on Fridays with uniform bottoms.

Jump Rope Club: Jump Rope Club will resume on February 1 in the MPR on Mondays from 2:45p.m. to 3:45p.m. 13 classes for $104. Applications are available in the front office or on the HK8 website.

Donations Needed: We are in need of three desktop computers (tower and flat screen monitor) to support our LCD projectors for use in the classrooms and a sturdy 3 or 4 shelf bookcase for the front office. We could also use some rainy day games and activities for lunch time play in the classroom. (Ex: nerf balls, board games…)

Heritage K8/Digital Academy Talent Show: Auditions for the 1st Annual Heritage K8/Digital Academy Talent Show will be held on Thursday, March 25 (a minimum day) from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. at the American Spirit Theater. We are looking for a wide variety of talented performers including singers, musicians, dance routines, magic acts, jugglers, group skits, and much more! Fliers will be available this coming week. The talent show will take place at the American Spirit Theater on Friday, May 21. For more information, please contact Pam Dawson at 760-480-9521 or Stephanie Boren at 760-739-8332.

YMCA Childcare: The YMCA offers Heritage parents quality, state licensed, before- and after-school childcare for students in grades kindergarten through fifth. For more information, call 760-745-7490.

Homework Stars: This week’s "Homework Stars" are 1st graders Lea Avent in Mrs. Curley’s class and Lottia Henshaw in Miss Lavage’s; Mrs. Cook’s 3rd grade students, M.J.
