Pumpkin Contest: The deadline to turn in your home-grown pumpkins is Tuesday, October 27. Baskin Robbins gift certificates will be awarded for the biggest (circumference) and the heaviest. The pumpkins must be placed in the empty planter by the Multi-Purpose Room with a tag showing student’s full name and grade along with the original sheet for parents attesting to the fact the child grew it him/herself. 8th Grade Parents: Please stop in the office for your Applebee's Breakfast Buffet tickets! All proceeds go to your student's Catalina account. ATTENTION Crafters and Vendors: The 2nd Annual Holiday Gift Faire will be held Thursday, November 19. Contact Marcy Colwell at sparklegal@cox.net for more information. Space still available - only $25/space!Proceeds will benefit Heritage K-8 classrooms. Homefront San Diego: The goal is to help needy families of active duty military personnel during the holidays by providing the essentials for complete meals. Through November 20, Heritage will collect the following donations by grade level: K-2: boxed potatoes and canned gravy; 3-5: boxed stuffing, canned cranberries, and marshmallows; 6-8: canned veggies - corn, green beans, and yams; Faculty: donations to purchase gift certificates for turkeys. WANTED: Holiday Decorations: Heritage K-8’s “Sounds of the Season” music concert is Dec. 10, and Mrs. Guthrie is looking for fresh or artificial trees and beautiful “big” decorations to fill the large stage and theater. Decorations will be returned on Dec. 11. Please contact Andrea Baldwin at 760-432-0936 if you can help out. Everyone A Reader: You can help a student become a life-long reader. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to read with students who are not reading at their grade level or need extra support. Our reading tutors will receive a three-hour training and then will come to school for one hour per week to read with their assigned students. Everyone A Reader is a program designed by the San Diego County Office of Education and is a highly successful and positive way of supporting children in the process of learning to read. Parents’ Night Out: Help the 4th graders go to the Star of India while enjoying a night out without the kids! On Friday, November 6, from 6 to10p.m., you can bring your kid(s) to the Multi-Purpose Room for a movie and treats with Mrs. McKay and Ms. Nester. The cost is only $20 per child. Look for more details to come home with your student soon! Heritage Yearbook: 2009/2010’s The Roar is on sale now! It’s only $17 if you order before November 24. Pick up an order form in the front office or order online at www.heritageyearbook.com. Original Works Is Back: Through the Original Works program, you have the opportunity to purchase a variety of products featuring your child's very own artwork. These high quality products offer a tremendous way to capture your child's artwork and share it with family and friends. An Original Works packet will be going home with your student on Friday, October 23rd and needs to be returned to the school no later than October 30. who complete all Fresh and Easy: For every $20 spent at our local Fresh and Easy Store, between September 15, 2009 and December 31, 2009, our school will receive a $1 cash donation.
