Heritage K-8 Charter School

Heritage Notes
Friday, November 07, 2008

Veterans Day:
Heritage K-8 will be closed Tuesday, November 11, 2008, in observance of Veterans Day.
We have a regular school day on Monday, November 10th.

Feel like you’re missing memories?:
If you noticed that half your child’s class was missing from the class photo, that might be because, now that our school is larger, “class photo” does not necessarily mean all of the children in a particular grade. If you would like to purchase the class photo for the “other” half of the class, please contact Dave at Gerardy Photography (760-747-2263, ext. 102).

Athletic Equipment Needed:
Cleaning out the garage or the overflowing hall closet and don’t know what to do with all those unused soccer balls, hula hoops, and footballs? Donate your gently used items to the Heritage K8 playground! Please drop off donations in the front office. We gladly accept new items too!

Perfect Attendance Awards:
All students can earn a “Free Dress Day Pass” by having perfect attendance for the month of November. Perfect Attendance means you must be in school every day and not be tardy. If you have a before school doctor or dentist appointment, please bring a signed note from the medical office. All classes can earn “Free Ice Cream Snack” if their class has Perfect Attendance for the month of November. The Perfect Attendance Contest begins Monday, November 3, and runs through Tuesday, November 25.

YMCA Before & After School Programs:
The YMCA Staff will be in the Multi-Purpose Room after school (2:45 pm) on Monday, November 10, to accept applications, complete registration, and answer questions.

Heritage Fall Book Fair Safari:
The annual Book Fair will take place in the Heritage Library from November 13 - November 21. Volunteers are needed for decorating (safari theme) on November 10 and break down and clean up on November 21 as well as volunteers to work at the book fair from the 13th to the 21st. Please contact Claudine Rumbawa at 760-739-9102 or crumbawa@cox.net if you can help.

Attention Crafters/Vendors:
The 1st Annual Heritage Holiday Gift Faire will be held Thursday, December 4, from 5-8PM in the Multi-Purpose Room. Proceeds will benefit the Heritage classroom libraries. Please contact Marcy Colwell at 760-471-2547 or sparklegal@cox.net for more information.

LEGO Robotics Update:
All four of the Heritage K-8 LEGO teams will compete in a countywide tournament on Saturday, November 22, at the Preuss School in La Jolla. Teams that qualify will compete at the LEGOland Tournament in December.

No Candy, Gum or Soda:
Heritage K-8 has a no gum. no candy, no soda policy. Any student with one of
these items will receive an automatic detention.

Volunteers Needed:
Looking for a few, good parent volunteers to help out on Pizza Fridays. If you have a few hours on Fridays, please call Misty Sherman at 760-803-8478.

Election Day:
The students of Heritage K-8 had a chance to go to the polls on Tuesday, November 4th. We held our own election to name the school yearbook. Congratulations goes to Sydney Vargas, her name suggestion, “The ROAR,” won the vote. A big thank you to Mrs. Coe for making our voting booths.
