Heritage Notes

Minimum Days:
October 22, 23, & 24 are minimum days. School is out at 12:30PM. All
students need to be picked up by 1PM.
PE Uniform Policy:
Beginning Monday, October 20, 6th - 8th grade students, who choose to
not dress in their PE uniforms, will receive a F for the day. In addition,
students, who do not have their uniforms for two consecutive days, will
receive a call home to parents. If students fail to dress for three consecutive
days, they will be referred to Mrs. Farran for detention and/or other
appropriate consequences.
2008 Pumpkin Contest:
Congratulations to Jonathan Sticka, who grew the biggest pumpkin, and
Austin Wahlrab, who had the best jack-o-lantern carving in the 2008 Pumpkin
Growing Contest for grades 1-4. Each student received $6 ice cream certificates
from Baskin-Robbins and their names were listed on the bookplate for Pumpkin
Town, a book purchased for our library with funds from “San Diego
Ag in the Classroom.” Sarah Canfield, Aiden Land, and Jayden Bennett
also entered pumpkins they grew themselves, and they did a great job!
Revised Class Schedule:
The revised Class Schedule will go into effect on Monday, October 20.
Please see the Heritage website, www.heritagek8.org, or your classroom
teacher for details. School hours remain the same. Copies of the revised
schedule are also available in the front office.
ECHS Girls’ Volleyball Team:
You’re invited to come out and support the ECHS White Tiger 2008-2009
undefeated Girls’ Volleyball Team play their last two league games
on Monday, October 20, and Monday, October 27. Both games will take place
in the ECHS gym and start at 5PM. Fans are advised to arrive 30 minutes
early to watch warm ups and team rituals. Everyone wearing ECHS or HK8
school colors are eligible to win fun prizes.
Middle School Girls’ Volleyball:
If you’re interested in participating in the Boys and Girls Club
6th-8th grade middle school girls’ volleyball program, please contact
ECHS Girls’ Volleyball Coach, Jo Milo, at 760-580-4830.
Girls Softball Information Meeting:
If you are a 7th or 8th grader interested in Girls Softball, Escondido
Charter High is planning some voluntary workout clinics. Come out and
see the program and meet the high school coaches and players. Please come
to the informational meeting on Tuesday, October 21, 6:30 p.m., in Room
C201on the ECHS campus. You will be able to meet Coach Boyer and Coach
Linner, find out about the participation requirements, and receive voluntary
workout dates. Questions? Contact Coach Jeff Boyer at 760-801-6342. Go

Parent/Teacher Conferences:
Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place on October 22, 23, & 24.
If you have not heard from your student’s teacher and would like
to schedule an appointment, please call or email him/her. Progress Reports
will be available from your student’s teacher. Middle school parents:
please email Mr. Hendry at chendry@echs.org to schedule. All three days
are Minimum Days.
Rubio’s Fundraiser:
Take the kids to lunch and help support PAB sponsored programs for Heritage
on Thursday, October 23, from 12:00pm - 3:00pm at Rubio's location 1485
E Valley Pkwy Escondido, Ca 92027. Flyers, available in the front office,
are good for dine-in or take-out and must be presented at the time of
purchase.
Box Tops for Education:
Please turn in your Box Tops for Education Collection Sheets by October
24 in time for our fall submission. Box Top Collection Sheets are available
in the office. Please help our Box Top Coordinator, Mrs. Keyser, by attaching
the Box Tops securely to the collection sheets and make sure that the
expiration date of the Box Top is visible. Students are eligible for a
prize each time they turn in 3 Collections Sheets (with no expired Box
Tops).
Spaghetti Dinner:
Support the ECHS Girl's Volleyball team by participating in this year's
spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Tuesday, October 28, from 5 - 7 p.m. in
the Student Union. The cost is $10 per person and $35 per family (5 max).
Advanced tickets can be purchased in the Heritage front office or by calling

YMCA Before & After School Programs:
Start date is eminent. Please call the YMCA for more information. 760-745-7490
Donations Needed:
The Library needs to replace Holiday, Winter, and Valentine books that
were lost or misplaced during the renovation. Please drop them off in
the front office.
Help Needed:
Looking for help and donations to fix up the staff lounges and bathrooms.

On The Border Fundraiser:
Supporting the Heritage 7th & 8th Grade Civil War Day never tasted
so good! Dine in or take out at the On The Border Restaurant at Westfield
North County on Sunday, November 2, from 11AM to 10PM, and they will donate
20% of all the proceeds to Heritage Civil War Day. You must present a
flyer, which you can pick up in the front office.
Perfect Attendance Awards:
All students can earn a “Free Dress Day Pass” by having perfect
attendance for the month of October. Perfect Attendance means you must
be in school every day and not be tardy. All classes can earn “Free
Ice Cream Snack” if their class has Perfect Attendance for the month
of October. The Perfect Attendance Contest begins on Wednesday, October
1, and runs through Friday, October 31.
Attention Crafters/Vendors:
The 1st Annual Heritage Holiday Gift Faire will be held Thursday, December
4, from 5-8PM in the Multi-Purpose Room. Proceeds will benefit the Heritage
