Heritage K-8 Charter School
Heritage Notes
Minimum Days:
Next week, we have two minimum days scheduled, Tuesday, August 19th and
Wednesday, August 20th, for all students. Students will get out of school
at 12:30 p.m. Gates will open at 12:40 p.m. Please have your students
picked up by 1:00 p.m. There is no lunch on minimum days, so please send
your student to school with a nutritional snack on these days.
Back to School Nights:
Please plan to come and see your child’s classroom and meet his/her
teacher at the Parent Back to School Nights scheduled next week. Tuesday,
August 19th will be the night for parents of students in grades K-4th.
Wednesday, August 20th will be the night for parents of students in grades
5th-8th. Both evenings will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room.
This evening is for parents only.
Welcome Back BBQ:
No need to pack a lunch for school on Friday, August 22nd, because Coach
is providing a welcome back barbeque lunch for all students and staff.
Please do send students to school with a healthy snack for their recess/break
time.
Heritage School Picnic:
Tomorrow, Saturday, August 16th from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. is our “Back
to School Picnic”. This event is sponsored by the Parent Advisory
Board and will take place at Escondido Charter High School on the Sports
Field. This is a potluck style event and parents are asked to bring the
items according to their last name. If your last name begins with: A-F
Bring drinks. G-L Bring Side Dish.
M-R Bring Main Dish. S-Z Bring Dessert.
Off Campus Forms:
If your student is walking home or to Escondido Charter High School to
meet an older sibling after school, he/she must have an Off Campus Authorization
Form on file in the front office prior to the day the student needs to
walk off campus. Upon leaving the campus the student will be required
to sign out with a staff member at the “0” period gate.
Absences:
It is the responsibility of parents or guardians to call the school office
(760) 737-3111 prior to 8 a.m. each and every day their student is absent
from school or late to school because of a medical appointment. The student
will be considered truant if the office has not been notified by the parent
or guardian. When a student returns to school, he or she must obtain a
pink admit slip from the office before returning to class. When a student
is absent for three days in a row, a doctor’s note will be needed
for readmission to school.
Appointments:
If your student has a medical appointment that can not be scheduled for
after school and you need to take them out of school early, please come
to the office 10 minutes prior to the time you need to leave the school.
The office will call your student out of class, while you sign your student
out. Please allow this extra 10 minutes in your schedule, because often
times students need to finish a test, pack up their things, get their
homework, or change out of their P.E. clothes. NO student may wait in
the front office for their parents to pick them up for an appointment.
Students will only be called to the office once their parent/s have arrived
in the office.
Tardy:
Every morning the gates close at 7:50 a.m. If your student has not made
it to school by this time, she/he will need to enter the school through
the front office in order to get into her/his classroom. Students will
need to sign in and get a pink admit slip in order to admit them into
their class.
Students later than 30 minutes must have their parents sign them in.
Candy, Gum, Soda:
Just a reminder—NO gum, NO candy and NO soda allowed at school.
Otter Pop Sales:
The Parent Advisory Board will begin selling Otter Pops on Friday, August
22nd after school. Otter Pops sell for 25 cents each.
