Heritage K-8 Charter School

Core Virtue:
“Wonder is the beginning of wisdom.”
Greek proverb

Pasta for Pennies:
Heritage K-8 Charter you did an awesome job! We raised $1,835.79 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Miss Rochon’s Kindergarten class and Miss Lavage’s 1st grade class will receive a Pasta Party courtesy of Olive Garden for being the top winners. The 7th and 8th grade came in third and fourth and received a free dress day today.

Entertainment Cards:
The following students sold 5 or more cards and receive free dress day on Monday, May 5th: Colton Hallie, Savannah Leigh Schultes, Roberto Cazares, Tierney Hennessy, Bryce Lindsey, Alma Cervantes, Leandra Heyveld, Skylar Heyveld, Connor Murphy, Kailynn Diaz, Nash Gann, Jesse Cazares, Jacob Chatton, Matthew Coe, Diana Keester, Juliette Keester, Kaylee Cummings. Franklin Boren, Ben Baar, Thomas Cummings, Jorges Torres, Chelsea Cutler, Ariel Rumbawa, Amanda Sisco, and Leo Scheideman. These students need to stop by the office Monday morning and pick up their pass.

Drop Off:
Students are not to walk on to or to be dropped off on the Heritage K-8 campus before 7:30 a.m. in the morning. The school does not have staff to watch the students until 7:30 a.m. Please do your part in helping to keep our students safe.

Exiting Campus:
Parents, when leaving the campus in the morning and afternoon, please do not turn left from our driveway onto East Valley Parkway. Turning left is an illegal turn and very dangerous.

2nd Annual Community Clean Up Day:
On Saturday, May 10th, we will be cleaning up our campus and some of the surrounding buildings. The newly revised hours to participate in this Core Virtue activity are 9:15 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Pizza and refreshments will be provided shortly thereafter. We have at least 6 teachers who have volunteered to help out and we need parents and kids. (Parents do receive credit toward their volunteer hours) All students that participate in the full cleanup will receive free dress day on Tuesday, May 13th. Students must sign in at the clean up, and wear a “Free Dress Pass” badge on Free Dress Day.

Two for one Book Fair:
As a “Thank You” to Heritage families and to kick off Summer Reading, there will be a Scholastic “Two Books for the Price of One” Book Fair. This mini book fair will be held during lunch and after school, May 14-16th. If you’d like to help, please call Jami Baar at (760)489-7175.

Cartridges for Kids:
Congratulations to Miss Rochon’s Kindergarten class for winning the Earth Day Contest by turning in 89 recycling items. Their class will receive a $50 prize. Heritage K-8 School did their part for Earth Day by recycling 429 cartridges, phones, computers, video games...

Campbell’s Soup Labels:
We are getting ready to mail in our Campbell Soup Labels. If you have any at home, please get them to the office by May 16th, so we may turn them in before the deadline.

Heritage Scrapbook:
Do you like to scrapbook? The school is looking for a few people that would like to put together a Heritage K-8 Charter School Scrapbook. If this is you, please contact the front office.

8th Grade Parents:
The Escondido Charter High School Parent Advisory Board welcomes the incoming freshman and their parents for the 2008-2009 school year. We are now looking toward next year and asking the incoming parents to join us as freshman representatives. The work is fun and rewarding. If you are an outgoing person who likes to be involved, it is an excellent opportunity to be a greater part of your child’s education and to learn more about ECHS. We work closely with the staff and administration to further the positive experience your child is receiving at ECHS. There is opportunity for anyone who would desire to be a part of this support team. For more information please call or email Frank Rumbawa at (760)739-9102 or frumbawa@epicor.com or Dana Staebell, at (760) 839-3450 or madstaebell@cox.net
