Heritage K-8 Charter School

Drop Off:
Students are not to walk on to or to be dropped off on the Heritage K-8 campus before 7:30 a.m. in the morning. The school does not have staff to watch the students until 7:30 a.m. in the morning.
Please do your part in helping to keep our students safe.

Minimum Day:
Mark your calendar, Wednesday, April 30th is the next scheduled minimum day.
Students are released from school at 12:30 p.m. All students must be picked up by 1 p.m.

STAR BBQ:
Our Annual STAR BBQ lunch will be held next Friday, April 25th. All students will receive a hot dog or hamburger lunch that day. There will be no Pizza lunch sold.

Pasta for Pennies:
Would you like a free dress day on Friday, April 25th? All you need to do is bring a monetary donation to our “Pasta for Pennies” fund (The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) in exchange for being able to have a free dress day. Each teacher will collect the students donations on the morning of Friday, April 25th, in homeroom. Please remember to dress appropriate for school.

Cartridges for Kids:
As we celebrate Earth Day in April, we will be having a recycling contest. The class that collects the most qualifying items will win a $50.00 check. The contest began on April 1st and will end on April 30th. Qualifying recycling items are Videos Games w/case, empty inkjet or laser cartridges, used cell phones, digital cameras, laptops including power cords, PDAs/Palm Pilots, ipods, and DVD Movies including original packaging. Currently, Ms. Rochon’s class is still in the lead, followed by Mrs. Curley’s class and then Mrs. Kajita’s class and Miss Nugent’s class.

Family Fun Night:
May 2nd is Family Fun Night and quickly approaching. Volunteers are still needed for class booths, the snack booth, and inflatable jumps. We also need to borrow EZ-ups, ice chests and crock pots for the evening. Please be sure to put your last name on them so they can be returned. Auction:
We are still looking for items to have in our auction. If your family would like to donate an item, or have a vacation rental, timeshare, other business service to donate, please contact Shellie Bobadilla at 4HeritageAuction@gmail.com.

Poetry Festival:
April is National Poetry Month and the Heritage K-8 4th Annual Poetry Festival is coming soon!! Please set aside the following dates. On Wednesday, April 23rd our 2nd and 3rd graders will perform at 6:30 p.m. in the Heritage Multipurpose Room. The very next day, on April 24th, it will be the 4th and 5th graders turn (at 6:30 p.m. also). Come one, come all, a great time is in store for everyone.

New Student Orientation:
If you have a sibling student on the lottery wait list for the 2008-2009 school year, and did not attend the first mandatory Parent Orientation, then you will need to attend the next meeting scheduled on Tuesday, April 22nd at 6:30 p.m. in the Heritage Multipurpose Room. Even if you have students already enrolled in the school and are trying to get a sibling into the school, one parent must attend the meeting in order to remain on the waiting list. Spaghetti Dinner;
Support the Girl’s Softball tem by participating in this year’s spaghetti dinner/fundraiser on Friday, May 9th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the Student Union. The cost is $10 per person and $30 per family. Following the dinner there will be a PAB sponsored movie night on the soccer field. Tickets can be purchased from Laura Geist at (619)885-6552 or (760)781-3379.
