Heritage K-8 Charter School

Core Virtue:
“Let us be merciful as well as just.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Easter Break:
Our Easter Break is scheduled for March 17th-March 21st.
School will resume on Monday, March 24th.

Medical Appointments:
Regular attendance is essential to student learning, and any absences should be avoided if at all possible. Parents should try to schedule all medical appointments after school hours. When a student leaves early for the day, this can be disruptive not only to the student that is leaving, but to the whole classroom. Your consideration in making appointments after school hours whenever possible is most appreciated.

Leaving Early for the Day:
We request that no student leave early for the day unless absolutely necessary. If you must pull your student early from school, please arrive in the office a minimum of ten minutes before you need to leave. Often times students are in the library, P.E., music … and must go back to their classroom to retrieve their things. No student is allowed to wait in the office for their parents to pick them up. Students will only be called once their parent has arrived in the front office.

Heritage K-8 Auction and Dinner:
The Heritage K-8 Auction and Dinner will be held on Friday, April 4th at the Escondido Charter High School’s American Spirit Theater. The function will be from 5 to 9 p.m. with dinner being served from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost for the event is $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children. There are family discount rates. A family of 4 would pay $45.00, and family of 5 would pay $55.00 and any additional family members would pay an additional $10 each. Soon tickets will be sold after school or order forms for the tickets will be available in the office.

ECHS Football:
Any 8th grade student who would like to play football for the ECHS White Tigers in 2008 need to bring their parents and attend the important football informational meeting on Thursday, April 3rd, from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m., in the American Spirit Theatre at the high school. We will discuss all the important details for the upcoming football season. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Brose at (760)737-3154, ext. 148. Go White Tigers!!!

Parent Advisory Board:
The Parent Advisory Board advises that seven people applied to run in the election for the seven positions on the PAB Board for the 2008-2009 School Year. To save the time and money that might otherwise be expended on a contest which every candidate would win, the Board has decided to forego an election (as is acceptable under the By-laws) and all seven applicants will be on the 2008-2009 Board. The 2008-2009 Board members will be: Jami Baar, Stephanie Boren, Tammy Cummings, Andrea Egli, Marc Lindsey, Jacqueline Thompson, and Kathryn Turner-Arsenault.

Lunches:
Please remember we do not carry money in the front office to make change or vouchers for lunch money. Pizza and Taco lunches must be paid for at time of purchase, we do not have credit.
Please keep in mind when packing your student’s lunches, that we do not have refrigerators or microwaves available for the students. Unfortunately, we do not provide spoons, forks, straws or napkins. In addition, the office also serves as our sick bay. We ask that you do not bring your student’s lunch to the office to be picked up. On a rare occasion when your child forgets their lunch, you may bring their lunch to the office and we will do our best to get it to them. NO hot lunches (Taco Bell, Burger King…..) of any type can be accepted.

Sick/Homework Policy:
If your child is “too sick” to come to school, please keep them at home and know that they will have time to make up their work when they return to school. When the student returns to school they will be given one day for each day absent in order to make up their missing work.

Yearbooks:
Heritage K-8 Yearbooks are available to purchase until April 18, 2008. Order forms in office. Cost $15.
