Heritage K-8 Charter School
Core Virtue:
“I have always found that mercy bears richer fruits than strict
justice.”
Abraham Lincoln
Heritage is going green:
In an effort to save paper and energy, this will be the last Heritage
Notes going home with your student on Friday. Beginning March 14th, you
can receive the Heritage Notes via email, look it up on the school web
site (HeritageK8.org) or you may stop by the office and pick up a paper
copy. If you would like to be added to our email list, please email Leanne
Megna at Lmegna@echs.org.
Mark your calendar:
Our Easter Break is scheduled for March 17th-March 21st. School will resume
on Monday, March 24th.
Lunches:
Please remember we do not carry money in the front office to make change
or vouchers for lunch money. Pizza and Taco lunches must be paid for at
time of purchase, we do not have credit.
Please keep in mind when packing your student’s lunches, that we
do not have refrigerators or microwaves available for the students. Unfortunately,
we do not provide spoons, forks, straws or napkins. In addition, the office
also serves as our sick bay. We ask that you do not bring your student’s
lunch to the office to be picked up. On a rare occasion when your child
forgets their lunch, you may bring their lunch to the office and we will
do our best to get it to them. NO hot lunches (Taco Bell, Burger King…..)
of any type can be accepted.
Sick/Homework Policy:
If your child is “too sick” to come to school, please keep
them at home and know that they will have time to make up their work when
they return to school. When the student returns to school they will be
given one day for each day absent in order to make up their missing work.
Volunteer Opportunity:
STAR testing will take place April 7th through April 16th. During the
STAR testing time we will need volunteers to act as proctors for the tests.
If you are interested, please contact Miss Nugent at snugent@echs.org.
Middle School Yearbook Committee:
We will be meeting on Wednesday, March 12th after school in the computer
room to work on our yearbook pages. Please have your parents pick you
up promptly at 3:45 p.m. at the “0” period gate. Any questions,
call Annette Morton at 749-7358 or 214-4289.
Yearbooks:
Parents, don’t miss out on capturing your child’s memories.
Order your Heritage K-8 Yearbook now. Order forms are available in the
office. Yearbooks are priced at $15.
The Yearbook Committee still needs all of the shutterbug parents to continue
to drop off your child’s class photo CD’s. We really appreciate
all of the submissions so far, and we know this year’s yearbook
is going to turn out well. Don’t forget to separate the pictures
into different files, labeled by the class and event on the CD. Thank
you for your participation.
Medical Appointments:
Regular attendance is essential to student learning, and any absences
should be avoided if at all possible. Parents should try to schedule all
medical appointments after school hours. When a student leaves early for
the day, this can be disruptive not only to the student that is leaving,
but to the whole classroom. Your consideration in making appointments
after school hours whenever possible is most appreciated.
Leaving Early for the Day:
We request that no student leave early for the day unless absolutely necessary.
If you must pull your student early from school, please arrive in the
office a minimum of ten minutes before you need to leave. Often times
students are in the library, P.E., music … and must go back to their
classroom to retrieve their things. No student is allowed to wait in the
office for their parents to pick them up. Students will only be called
once their parent has arrived in the front office.
