Holiday:
School will be closed on Monday, February 18th in honor of President’s
day.
Minimum Days:
Wednesday, February 20th and Thursday, February 21st are scheduled minimum
days. School will be over at 12:30 p.m. All students must be picked up
by 1 p.m.
Office Hours:
The Heritage School Office closes at 3:30 p.m. everyday. Students in after
school programs will need to be picked up at the “0” period
gate.
Volunteer Work Day:
Please come join us on Saturday, February 23rd from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for
a Volunteer Day. Working parents, this is a great time to work on some
of your volunteer hours while making our school a better place for our
children.
Grading Period:
Progress reports for the first five weeks of the second semester went
out today. If you did not pick up your student’s progress report
today, you may pick them up on Tuesday.
Charter Renewal:
Congratulations teachers, students and community. The Escondido Elementary
Union School District has just renewed our school charter for another
five years.
Volunteer Opportunity:
STAR testing will take place April 7th thru April 16th. During the STAR
testing time we will need volunteers to act as proctors for the tests.

Civil War Day:
The 7th and 8th grade students will participate again this year in a Civil
War Day on
Saturday, March 1st, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Questions? Contact Mr. Hendry

7th Grade Field Trip:
The 7th grade is scheduled for a field trip to Forest Home Camp, March
12-14th.
The estimated cost is $225.
Dr. Seuss Day:
Students in grades K-4 will celebrate Dr. Seuss Day on Monday, March 3rd.
The school is looking for a few members of the community, grandparents
or parents that would like to visit the school on that day and read to
the children. If you are interested or have a suggestion or question,
please contact Karen Kajita at kkajita@echs.org.
Sun Safety Day:
Students are encouraged to continue wearing their new, navy blue visors
when outside to shield their faces from harmful UV rays. Thursday, February
21st is designated “Sun Safety Day”. Those students caught
wearing their school approved navy blue visors or logo ball caps while
on the playground will be given a ticket which they may exchange for a
prize from the Parent Advisory Board.
On Friday, February 22nd, Dr. Nancy Chen, a local dermatologist will be
on campus to speak to some of our students on this topic.
PAB Elections:
On or before 3:30 p.m., on March 3, 2008, any person who wishes to be
a member of the Heritage K-8 Charter School Parent Advisory Board must
submit to the secretary of the Board a maximum one-page statement setting
forth his or her history and reasons for wanting to be on the Board. Statements
can be placed in the Board mailbox located in the front office. If you
wish to confirm receipt, please leave your telephone number so the secretary
can call you.
Lottery 2008:
If you have a sibling that is not enrolled at Heritage K-8 and you would
like them to attend, you must sign them up for the lottery. Questions?

March 6th.
