Heritage K-8 Charter School

Core Virtue:
“A man full of courage is also full of faith.”
Cicero

Minimum Day:
On Wednesday, January 30th, students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m., and must be picked up from school by 1 p.m. There will be a Rubio’s Fundraiser from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on this day. In order for the school to get credit, the flyer going home today is required at Rubio’s when purchasing your food. Extra flyers are available in the office.

Contest Winners:
Congratulations to Miss Nugent’s class for collecting the most cell phones in the cell phone contest. Her 2/3rd grade class will receive $50 for a future party.

Yearbook:
The Yearbook Committee is always looking for candid shots of all class activities. If you have photo CDs to submit, please categorize the photos in folders by class and activity on the CDs. We can use your non-digital photos; however we’d appreciate if you’d scan them into the computer and put them on a CD. If you don’t have a scanner or computer available we do understand. Beginning with our next meeting we could really use volunteers to work in Microsoft Publisher and begin importing the photos that have been submitted. Our next meeting will be February 12th at 7 p.m. in Room 214. If you have any further questions, e-mail heritageyearbook@cox.net or call Cynthia Diaz (760) 294-8727.

Middle School Students:
Attention Middle School students, your creative talents are needed to help put together this year’s yearbook. It is not too late to get involved. Our next meeting is on Thursday, January 31st from 2:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Room 214. Questions? Contact Annette Morton at (760)749-7358.

Music:
If you have a musical instrument at home that was given to you by the Heritage Music Department, and you are not currently in band, please return the instrument to the school office as soon as possible so that other students may use it for band. Thank you.

Cookies & Milk:
The 4th grade class will be selling cookies and milk for $1.00 on Fridays after school until March 28th. If you would like to help sell, or donate cookies or milk please call Christy at 533-1453.

Email:
Would you like to get email homework (Grades 3-8), the Heritage Notes or up to the minute announcements emailed to you? If so, please email Mrs. Megna at lmegna@echs.org with your request and email address. If your email address has changed, please email her with your current information.

Wanted Items:
The Escondido Charter School District would like to have a grand piano. Do you know of someone that would like to donate one to the school? Please contact the office with any information you have. The Piano Club is need of electronic keyboards. If you wish to donate one, please contact Pam Dawson at (760) 480-9521. Heritage is also in need of some cheese or peanut butter and crackers, some juice boxes or small water bottles and sandwich size ziplock bags. Please bring your donations to the front office. Thank you.

Dress Code:
Remember the only sweatshirts allowed to be worn at school are solid navy blue, black or white sweatshirts. Maroon and black sweatshirts with the Heritage K-8 logo are also allowed. No other sweatshirts are part of our school dress code. NO camp sweatshirts (Astro Camp, Catalina…) and NO ECHS (football, basketball…). They are not part of the uniform policy. Students in non-uniform sweatshirts and sweaters will have their items taken away and parents will need to pick the items up at the front office.

Lottery 2008:
If you have a sibling that is not enrolled at Heritage K-8 and you would like them to attend, you must sign them up for the lottery. When signing your student up for the lottery, you must indicate on the form that they are a sibling. Questions? Please contact Judy Brooks at (760) 737-3154.
Cut off date to sign up for Heritage K-8 lottery has been extended. The deadline to sign up is the close of business on: Thursday, March 6th.

Recycling Program:
Help the earth and Heritage too! Mr. Goldstein has graciously offered to start a recycling program here at school and the proceeds will go back to Heritage. We need a donation of at least four 20 gallon size trash cans with lids to get the program up and running. If you have any questions please contact Shelly Heyveld at Jheyveld@aol.com or Mr. Goldstein.
