Heritage K-8 Charter School

Core Virtue: “ The road to success is dotted with many tempting parking places.”

Conference Week:
October 15th—October 19th is Parent/Teacher Conference Week.
We have no childcare available on campus and do not want any students left unattended.
Parents, please make arrangements for your children to be watched off campus during your conferences. We appreciate your cooperation.

Minimum Day:
Friday, October 19th is a Minimum Day and school will get out at 12:30 p.m.
All students must be picked up by 1:00 p.m. Please remember to pack your child a snack.
There will be no Pizza Friday this week!

Rubio’s Fundraiser:
Take advantage of the school’s half day (Friday, October 19th) and take the kids out to lunch on the way home from school. Rubio’s Mexican Grill is right down the street on E. Valley Parkway. Our school will benefit from each purchase made with a flyer between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additional flyers are available in the school office.

Calling all Scrap bookers:
Come join us on Saturday, October 20th from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. for our first 6 hour Heritage Fundraiser Crop. The crop will be held in Heritage’s Multipurpose Room. The cost is $20 which includes dinner, use of tools and great fellowship. All profits will help fund activities and programs like art and Physical Education. Please R.S.V.P. to Shelly at jheyveld@aol.com. If you are unable to make it this month but would be interested in the club and future dates, please let us know as well.

Wanted:
Do you have welding equipment you can lend to the school maintenance team for a project they are working on? If so, please contact the office at (760)737-3111.

Camp Sweatshirts:
Sweatshirts bought on school field trips (Catalina Science Camp, Astro Camp…) are not part of the school uniform and may not be worn to school except on free dress day.

Piano Club:
There are still openings in the Thursday after-school key board classes. Hurry and enroll now. Learn basic keyboard techniques in a fun-filled atmosphere. Classes are held from 2:50 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room. Only $12.00 per lesson. For more information or to sign up, please contact Pam Dawson at (760) 480-9521.

Taco Tuesday:
Tuesday, October 16th is the next Taco Tuesday. The taco meal sells for $3.00 and includes 1 taco, a drink, fruit or fruit cup, and a treat. A two taco meal sells for $4.00. A three taco meal sells for $5.00.

Box Tops:
There has been some confusion on the Box Top Contests, so we are stopping all contests and we will begin fresh on Monday, October 15th with a new reward system. All students will have the opportunity to earn awards. See the enclosed flyer for more details.

Volunteer Opportunity:
We are in need of a parent volunteer to help with choir one afternoon a week from 2:40 P.M. to 3:40 p.m. If you would be interested in this position, please contact Mr. Macdonald.
