Heritage K-8 Charter School
Core Virtue:
“The price of greatness is responsibility.”
Sir William Churchill 1874-1965
Minimum Day:
Wednesday, September 12th is a minimum day. School is out at 12:30 p.m.
All students must be picked up by 1:00 p.m.
Patriot’s Day:
Parents, please join us Tuesday for our annual school assembly to remember
9-11. This assembly will begin at 8 a.m. in the school playground.
Rubio’s Fundraiser:
Take the kids to Rubio’s for lunch on Wednesday, September 12th.
This is a minimum day and school is out at 12:30 p.m. Rubio’s Mexican
Grill is right down the street on E. Valley Parkway. Our school will benefit
from each purchase made with a flyer between 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You
must bring the flyer sent home today with you when you go to Rubio’s
for your delicious meal. Extra flyers available in the school office.
Pizza Fridays:
Pizza lunches will be available for purchase during the student’s
normally scheduled lunch time. A pizza lunch meal consists of a slice
of pizza, salad and a drink. The cost is $3.00 for a “one slice
pizza meal” and $4.00 for a “two slice meal”. Students
will pay at the time they are served. Young students need to have an envelope
labeled with their name and pizza money. Students still need to bring
snack on Pizza day.
School Traffic Rules:
For the safety of all of our students, please do not drop off or pick
up your students from the back playground. Students are not to get in
or out of cars that are in line. Students may get in and out of cars in
the designated area of the playground only. Please drive slowly and carefully
on the school campus. Please do not be on your cell phone while driving
thru the pickup/drop off line. Students sometimes can not be seen around
the large vehicles or they may not be paying attention, so we need all
drivers to pay extra close attention while driving on the school grounds.
For those parents walking on campus to drop off or pick up your students,
we ask that you do not remain on the playground. The teachers are responsible
for the safety of all the students and extra people on the playground
can disrupt their concentration of carefully watching each student. For
the safety of our students, please do not wait around in the playground,
but leave the playground area immediately after picking up or dropping
off your student. The extra time we take for safety will be rewarded with
no injuries to our students, thank you for your cooperation.
Wish List:
Items the school can use: A heavy duty, cross paper shredder, rolls of
paper towels, juice boxes, a bottle of Goo Gone, a large key box, a clothing
rack, Dymo white plastic label refill tape (1/2”W), a heavy duty
three hole punch, plastic spoons and forks, peanut butter and crackers,
or cheese and crackers, sandwich size zip lock baggies, two analog phones
and new artificial plants.
Absences/Appointments:
It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to call the school
office (760) 737-3111 prior to 8:00 a.m. each and everyday their student
is absent from school or late to school because of a medical appointment.
The student will be considered truant if the office has not heard from
the parent or guardian. When a student returns to school, he or she must
obtain a pink re-admit slip from the office before returning to class.
When a student is absent for three days in a row, a doctor’s note
will be needed for readmission to school.
If your child has a medical appointment that can not be scheduled for
after school and you need to take them out of school early, please come
to the office 10 minutes before you need to leave the school campus. The
office will call your student out of class, while you sign your student
out. Please allow an extra 10 minutes in your schedule, because often
times students need to finish a test, pack up their things, get their
homework, or change out of their P.E. clothes. NO student may wait in
the front office for their parents to pick them up for an appointment.
Students will only be called to the office once their parent/s have arrived
in the office.
4H Club Start Up:
The Parent Advisory Board is exploring the possibility of starting a 4-H
Club for Heritage students. The meetings would be once or twice a month,
immediately after school. “4-H” is a youth organization administered
by the United States Department of Agriculture. The 4 H’s stand
for Head, Heart, Hands, and Health. There are currently more than nine
million members in almost 100,000 clubs for children from five to twenty-one
years old. 4-H’s goal is to develop citizenship, leadership, and
life skills in children through agriculture, animals, public speaking,
and adult-youth mentorship. If you are interested in your child(ren) participating
in 4-H, or if you would like to volunteer to help out, please contact
Kathryn Turner-Arsenault at (760) 535-4052 or ktaesq@hughes.net
Otter Pops:
Otter Pops sales will continue after school while the weather is hot.
Just 25 cents each. Otter pop donations are desperately needed! The long
size otter pops sold at Costco in the 200 ct. boxes are preferred. You
can drop off your donations in the office. If you are available between
2:30 p.m.- 3 p.m. any day to help sell otter pops, we need you! Please
contact Tammy at (760) 613-5055, or just show up!
