Heritage K-8 Charter School

"Education Is Our Business"

The Heritage K-8 Charter School is committed to providing a safe and orderly learning environment in which teachers will be responsible for implementing a curriculum based on the fundamental skills that form the foundation of learning: reading, writing, mathematics, and computer skills.

Accomplishment in academic areas will be stressed. In addition, the Heritage K-8 Charter School will emphasize the understanding and appreciation of a curriculum based on core knowledge.

The Heritage K-8 Charter School believes that parents and the school share a dual responsibility in developing the education plan that will provide the individual student the opportunity to succeed.

Heritage K-8 Charter School will achieve these objectives:

1. Improve pupil learning
2. Increase learning opportunities for all pupils, with special emphasis on expanded learning experiences for pupils who are identified as academically low achieving.
3. Encourage the use of different and innovative teaching methods.
4. Create new professional opportunities for teachers, including the opportunity to be responsible for learning programs at Heritage K-8 Charter School.
5. Provide parents and pupils with expanded choices in the types of educational opportunities available within the publicly funded school system.
6. Hold Heritage K-8 Charter School accountable for meeting measurable pupil outcomes and provide Escondido Charter High School with a method to employ a performance-based accountability system instead of a rule-based system.
